About Durango Urgent Care
Durango Urgent Care is an adult and pediatric urgent care center that provides
high quality, convenient, time efficient medical care for all non life
or limb threatening injuries and illnesses.
We provide urgent care to adults and children on a walk-in/no appointment
basis, 7 days a week.
The clinic was set up by seven emergency room physicians from Mercy Regional
Medical Center's Emergency Department. The clinic is privately owned
by the physicians who are aiming to provide affordable, accessible care
to the
people of Durango and surrounding communities. The physicians all currently
work in the Emergency Department at Mercy Regional Medical Center and
cover some of the shifts in the Urgent Care Center. Between them, they
have been
providing medical care to the people of Durango for over 20 years.
A family doctor has recently been employed: Dr. Best is a board-certified
family physician with occupational medical qualifications and six
years of experience working in urgent care facilities.
Starting in November 2006, Dr. Best will be in the clinic the majority
of the time, with Dr. Demond working part time. They are supported by
registered nurses, reception staff, and our on site manager as well
as the emergency
care physicians for back-up advice and radiologists for x-ray overeads.
The clinic was opened with the support of Mercy Regional Medical Center
which is providing on-site laboratory and x-ray facilities.
We are conveniently located in downtown Durango at the site of the old
Mercy Hospital, 1800 East Third Avenue, Suite 112. To get there, just
follow the signs from Main Street near the Bank of the San Juans.
Our services are offered at dramatic savings to patients, employers,
insurance companies, and other healthcare consumers over the costs of
a hospital-based emergency room visit.
