Your Visit
What happens when I arrive?
Upon arriving at the
Urgent Care Center, you will sign in with the registration clerk so
they may obtain the information necessary to treat you. They will
ask you to fill out a registration sheet and will scan your medical
insurance card. Once this is completed, your chart is given to a nurse.
As soon
as an examination room is available, you will be called by the nurse,
who will take your vital signs and a brief medical history. A physician
or certified physician assistant will then see you as soon as possible.
How long will it take?
Generally our wait times are no longer than
15 minutes. Patients are triaged shortly after arrival in the
Urgent Care Center. Urgent Care patients are
seen in order of arrival. Occasionally a particularly sick patient
may arrive after you and be seen before you - but generally this group
of patients is
referred on to the emergency department.
We see patients on a walk-in basis without requiring an appointment. This
makes prediction of patient flow and wait times difficult and uncertain;
however, patients are generally seen with a minimal wait time. We have
five examination rooms and our doctors are experienced at working in
Urgent Care settings. We recognize that your time is valuable and are
working as hard and as fast as we can to give you high quality medical
care in
a timely manner.
What happens next?
You may be treated and discharged shortly after being
examined by an Urgent Care doctor. You will need to check out with
the receptionist before leaving the clinic. At this point, if you are insured with an insurance that we are contracted with, you will be asked for your co-pay. If you are insured with an insurance with whom we are not contracted, you will
be offered a 20% discount
if you pay cash for your visit. We will submit your claim to your
insurance company on your behalf.
If your problem is more complicated, you may be asked to wait for results
from laboratory tests. X-rays are reviewed right away by your Urgent
Care physician, and again by a radiologist within 2 days, when any new
findings would be reported to you.
Medical treatments such as intravenous
fluids, medications, and breathing treatments may be provided in the
Urgent Care Center. This can take minutes to hours.
If you need to be admitted to the hospital, our staff will assist in all
the arrangements.
If you are a resident of Durango and have a family physician or pediatrician
in Durango, we will fax a copy of your visit to your primary healthcare
provider.
